No more “she’ll be right”
When I realised the niggly soreness in my hip and thigh wasn’t going away by itself, I sought advice from a couple of blokes in the running club. It was sound. Instead of taking the old “she’ll be right” approach, I got in to see a physio at a sports clinic recommended by my running mates.
My physio is a young bloke and a sportsman himself. He’s been excellent. He’s validated my self-diagnosis - which was about 80% correct - plus he’s taught me a lot about the muscles and mechanics of the affected area.
The exercises I do a few times a week are already paying off. The deep tissue massage I undergo weekly is deliciously painful - I’m still tender after yesterday’s. Plus I get an hour each week where I just lie back and chat about running and footy and stuff.
Next session is in a week, then it’ll be time to get out for a run again, stronger, steadier, and smarter than before.
